Computer Club

Facilitated by Lloyd Reeves

Newman Computer Club was organized in the fall of 2009 under the auspices of Brother Lloyd Reeves Sr.  It has been the desire of Bro. Reeves to develop a worthwhile ministry to give back the knowledge he has gained while working at GM and EDS in the field of information technology.  After retirement, this desire became a reality.  For the past three years, the class was changed to a computer club to include members in the community with a desire to learn basic computer skills.   The class has learned many things while attending classes on Wednesday mornings beginning at 9:30 A.M.

The curriculum for the class has included the following:

  • Email (Attaching files/pictures)
  • Internet Options
  • Internet Security
  • Virus Protection
  • Repair disk/PC backups
  • Disk cleanup
  • Startup programs
  • Uploading pictures from digital cameras
  • Creating Documents, labels, post cards, greeting cards
  • Identifying the parts of the computer
  • System Configuration
  • Disk Defragmentation
  • Scanning Pictures and Documents
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Excel spreadsheets

Currently, the computer club is responsible for creating and developing monthly birthday cards for the church members.
